Alan Dennis (President)
City Councillor, Dip Teaching Adv
Current President of both the ILT and ILT Foundation. Served 40 years in the Education Sector, mainly in Southland. President of the NZLTA, City Councillor, Board Member of Holdco and Mainland DB. Member of Judicial Control Authority for both Harness and Thoroughbred Racing NZ. Married to Patricia, son Alan is studying at Otago University. Current interests include all sport, travel and deer stalking.
Mike Mika (Deputy President)
Mike is one of the four new Trustees elected onto the ILT Board this term. He works as a litigation and family lawyer. He is a trustee of the Murihiku Maori and Pasifika Cultural Trust and member of the Waihopai Primary School Board of Trustees. Mike is married to Jane and they have a seven year old son Jacob. Mike has played rugby professionally for Manu Samoa, Otago Highlanders, Otago and the Southland Stags. He maintains a keen interest in all sports and now like many parents is on the sidelines cheering their kids on in the weekends.
By profession I am a Licensed Real Estate Agent and Auctioneer and hold a trainerís license for thoroughbred race horses.
I am a typical southern man enjoying the outdoors with strong hunting interests, other board commitments include President of Southland Racing Club, board member of Gallop South, Racing Southland, Netball Southland, Ascot Racing Consortium and chairman of the Ascot Pastoral Equine Centre.
I am married to Becky and have two girls Olivia and Charlotte.
This is Neville Cook's fourth term as an ILT board member. He holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration. Neville is also a Councilor for Environment Southland and has been an appointed and elected member of the Southland District Health Board since 1998. He has active involvement with community groups including DARE and Victim Support, and is a Past District Governor of Rotary International. He is a board member of the Invercargill Chamber of Commerce.
BA PG Dip TCHG, LTCL
Angela Newell trained as a secondary school teacher after completing arts qualifications at Otago University. Since 2000 she has worked for Venture Southland as Creative Projects Manager and has initiated projects such as Shakespeare in the Park (the board of which she sits on as a founding trustee), The ILT Kidzone Festival and more recently The Southland Festival of the Arts. Angela is a passionate thespian, enjoying roles on stage and as a director. She also has an LTCL diploma in Speech and Drama. She lives in Invercargill with her partner, Joe.
John is a litigation partner at Preston Russell Law focusing on dispute resolution. He is a newly elected member of the ILT Board. He is a past president of the Southland District Law Society and past Chairman of the SGHS Board. He is also a board member of a number of private companies. Married to Nicola, he has a daughter Belinda studying at Otago University and a son William at James Hargest College. A keen runner, tennis player, snow and water skier and duck hunter.
